3 volumes, 4to (9 x 5 3/4 in.; 228 x 146 mm). Architectural title borders in each volume incorporating a view of Florence, allegorical woodcut on first title verso repeated on last page of volume 3, portrait of Vasari on leaf B4v, 144 woodcut medallion portraits set within borders of female figures of the arts, woodcut printer's devices on last pages, stamped last line on leaf K4v of vol. I, ms. correction on leaf TT3r of vol I, vol III with printed cancel-label pasted on recto of leaf 3R4 and manuscript correction on recto of leaf 5Y3, blank space left for portrait of Duccio (1:203) filled with eighteenth-century portrait in pencil; titles shaved affecting borders, tiny spots and small ink smudge on first title, some worm tracks in lower gutter of vol. 1 along with some dampstains, some spotting and soiling in the first two volumes, soiling and occasional spots in vol. 3, contemporary ownership entry struck through on third title, a few marginal notes. Eighteenth-century vellum, gold-stamped title labels on spines, red sprinkled edges.

First illustrated edition, second edition overall. First published in 1550, Vasari's Vite was enlarged and extended to the year 1567 with the addition of 30 new biographies for this edition, illustrated with portraits of the artists after the author's drawings.
