Catalogue Note

First published in 28 parts between 1819 and 1840, this improved edition of the Sammlung (a reprint of the 1852 edition) contains designs for palaces, houses, churches, museums, government buildings, and memorials. Schinkel (1781-1841), master builder and interior designer for the Prussian royal family, was prominent for his neo-classicism, and included designs in this work mostly based on Grecian rather than Roman style, as a rejection of the style associated with the recent French occupiers.

The Dekorationen exhibits some examples of Schinkel's interior designs in the neo-classical style.
