Catalogue Note

The most complete and illustrated report on the celebrated entry of Louis XIII into Avignon in November 1622. The plates are the only known work of Luiz Palma, who signs himself as being Portuguese (Ludovicus Palma Lusitanus). The plates depict the specially built Tribune of Speeches, the Gate of Felicity, the Royal Equestrian Statue, the Tropny of Wisdom, the fountain of Justice, the Theater of Force and Piety, the Palace of Glory, and the entrance constructed for the Cathedral of Notre Dame des Doms.
