Catalogue Note
Brooke's celestial guide was designed for finding longitude and latitude at sea. The twelve charts are "on a new construction, in which the stars are exhibited as they actually appear in the heavens with relation to each other." The author was a teacher of mathematics, geography and astronomy and served as a senior officer in the naval service of the East India Company.
