Catalogue Note

William Miller published six costume books in the first decade of the nineteenth century, the first appearing in 1800. Thomas McLean reprinted Miller's volumes without altering the title pages, the watermarks in the paper of both text and plates identifying the reprints. McLean added his own volume on The Military Costume of Turkey in 1818.
