Engraved frontispiece portrait of Queen Elizabeth by Robert Vaughan (Johnson 55), engraved title-page, engraved portrait of D'Arcie on 4F2v with additional facsimile of portrait inserted, numerous woodcut and metalcut head- and tailpieces, and initials (many historiated), text within rules, unsigned quire ("The Author to the Reader") inserted between b4 and ¶4; title and text on verso (pi2v shaved, lacking blank 3K4, closed tears on ¶2 and 4D1. Contemporary red morocco, gilt dentelle style border comprised of a phoenix perched on top of a single daisy, spine in 6 compartments (one reserved for black morocco lettering piece) elaborately tooled in gilt, board edges and turn-ins gilt, Dutch-combed marbled endpapers edges gilt; joints cracked, minor losses to spine ends, corners rubbed.
