Kandinsky, Wassily
Description
Catalogue Note
Letters from two influential abstract painters to Eugne Lux. In Kandinsky's letter, he thanks Lux for photographs and say he especially likes the one of himself with a cigarette, posed in front of one of his paintings. He discusses an American exhibition titled "8 Modes of Modern Painting," organized by the College Art Association, in which he will be exhibited alongside Léger, Duchamp. On the subject of furniture, he praises the benefits of a "radikal modernen Stuhl" over a Louis XVI chair. Pevsner, on the other hand, discourses on the human condition: "C'est pas étonnant, nous vivons en pleine jungle: l'homme n'est pas un loup mais un tigre pour l'homme, et pour cela la maladie de notre entourage."
The lot also includes an autograph letter, a Christmas card and a gallery announcement, all from the American artist Charles Sebree.
