Unbound as issued (6  7/8  x 4  1/2  in.; 175 x 119 mm, uncut).  One drypoint and burin on celluloid (100 x 49 mm) by Picasso; very light browning at extremities of margins of a few leaves.  Publisher's printed bristol board wrappers.

Catalogue Note

Copy 24 of 30 numbered copies (of a whole edition of 35), with the engraving signed by Picasso and the colophon lettered and signed by Benoit.  Picasso's second collaboration with Benoit was this print depicting "a man whose head is a little round spot of white cut out of the celluloid; he is concealed behind a multitude of horizontal lines and two strong verticals, which suggest, at once, the bars of a prison and an escape ladder" (Cramer).
