2 editions of fly-maker William Blacker's treatise on the making and coloring of flies, including the first edition signed and corrected by the author and a later edition owned by the renowned angling bibliographer, Thomas Westwood.

Art of Angling, and Complete System of Fly-Making. London: Published by the Author, March 1849. 12mo (5 1/2 x 3 1/2 in.; 140 x 89 mm). Engraved title-page, 2 engraved plates; margins of title-page and plates slightly browned. Contemporary light brown morocco cathedral-style binding, spine lettered gilt, yellow-coated endpapers, edges gilt; extremities rubbed. Brick cloth folding case, brown morocco label. 1st edition, signed by the author, with several corrections in his hand.   

Blacker's Art of Flymaking ... Rewritten and revised by the author Blacker, himself. London: n.p., 1855. 12mo (6 1/4 x 4 in.; 159 x 102 mm). Engraved title-page with royal warrant, handcolored engraved frontispiece, 20 engraved plates of flies (17 handcolored, 3 plain), text printed within an ornamental border. Nineteenth-century half red morocco over marbled boards, spine lettered gilt, marbled endpapers, top edge gilt. Thomas Westwood's copy, with his armorial bookplate, a holograph note regarding the first edition of the book and his signature on the flyleaf dated 1860.
