Literature
Gustave Kahn, `Lalique Verrier', Art et Décoration, 1912, p. 151
Félix Marcilhac, René Lalique 1860-1945. catalogue raisonné, Paris, 2004, p. 48, for an in situ photograph of the boudoir of the 7th Salon des Artistes décorateurs, Paris, 1912, showing a pair of 'Oreilles Gravées' vases on the mantelpiece.
Condition
A vase in good overall condition. The glass is very thick and this has created some wrinkles within the body, slightly visible in the catalogue illustration. The grey staining is stronger than suggested by the illustration. One 'ear' has an ondulation at the bottom of the vase where it meets the base. The other 'ear' has a horizontal scratch, approximately 5mm long, halfway up. And there are a couple of others to the body, which are filled with grey staining. This is not visible when the glass is on display. Both 'ears' have some internal bubbles. Minor old marks and scratches consistent with age. A decorative piece ready for display.
