hand-knotted wool

Condition

An unusual and impressive piece of good overall appearance. With a much richer, more vibrant tone, than suggested by catalogue illustration. Pile very slightly worn to centre but not noticeably. One or two sections of edge have been rewoven. Some minor staining in places. The reverse with stitched fabric label inscribed in handwritten pen `General Vassoll, Berlin, Landsitz, ...strasse 25'. At time of cataloguing the date of manufacture is uncertain. It could be circa 1910-1925 or from the second quarter of the 20th Century. An attractive piece.
