Catalogue Note
The journalist Arthur Fish (1860-1940) was the main source of anecdotes about Wilde's editorship of The Woman's World, noting, for example, his lackadaisical time-keeping: "...after a few months his arrival became later and his departure earlier until at times his visit was little more than a call..." (Arthur Fish, "Oscar Wilde as Editor", Harper's Weekly, 4 October 1913, pp.18). In a later letter, Wilde referred to Fish as "one of my real friends" (The Complete Letters, p.455).
