Description

  • Contemporary scribal copy of An Account of Religion by Reason
here entitled "A discourse written by Sr Jo: S Kt to the Earle of Dorset", with dedicatory epistle, 9 pages, folio, c.1630s-40s, first page heavily dust-stained, damp staining, wear and tear at edges



[together with] Fragmenta Aurea. For Humphrey Moseley, 1648, [third edition (printed with The Last Remains of Sir John Suckling, 1659)], bookplate of Florence Horatia Suckling and ownership signature of Lambt Nelson (dated 1683), original calf, [Wing S6128 and S6130], lacking portrait and all after G1 of part two, closely cropped, some worming, binding worn with loss



This is one of six manuscript copies of Suckling's treatise on Socinianism recorded in the Index of English Literary Manuscripts.
