8vo, first edition, frontispiece by Graham Robinson, original green pictorial cloth gilt, top edge gilt, others uncut, pictorial light brown first issue dust-jacket, some light spotting and browning, head and foot of spine very slightly bumped, dust-jacket with minor tears and slightly frayed at extremities, minor loss to foot of spine (approx 7 by 45mm.) and upper left corner of spine (approx 12 by 15mm.), some repairs to reverse, dust-jacket spine slightly darkened



one of the legendary rarities in children's books. The first issue of the dust-jacket includes the price of 6/- on the upper panel. A later issue notes the price as 7/6 NET. Only six copies of the first edition in first issue dust-jacket have been offered at auction in over thirty years.
