According to Furbank and Owens, the "general similarity in approach to Defoe's known writings on this topic" make the first work a 'probable' attribution. The Anatomy of Exchange-Alley is a full-on attack on the pernicious trade of stockjobbing and its ways of exploting rumours and scares. The French mathematical economist Léon Walras (1834--1910) is now considered the father of the "general equilibrium theory", and one of the three leaders of the marginalist revolution.
