Catalogue Note
A small number of copies were produced with restricted distribution, to train high-ranking soldiers. Throughout the book are references to Mao's close comrade-in-arms Lin Biao, including their joint portrait, Lin's quotation about "Sailing the Seas depends on the Helmsman ...", and a section of Lin's "Quotations". When Lin was accused of planning to assassinate Mao in 1971, it was decreed that Lin's name be eradicated from modern history and most surviving copies of this title have deletions and torn-out pages. It is rare to find this title complete as published.
