- Early typescript poem in the form of song lyrics entiteld "Class Song -- 1950 | Words by S. Plath | Music by R. Blakesley", 12 lines
single leaf (277 x 216mm.), one side only, inscription on verso by Sylvia's mother Aurelia Plath ("Wellesley High Graduation Song (1950) | by Sylvia"), further notes by Aurelia on recto "Keep" and "Love Poems", preserved in specially made folding cloth chemise and quarter red morocco slipcase
"In cap and gown we stand before you, senior comrades unified,
Here stands the Class of Nineteen Fifty, for the last time side by side.
No music and no words can tell the sorrow and the joy we feel
As to Wellesley High we bid farewell to seek what the future may reveal..."
This poem, which captures the feelings of loss and expectation as both the poet and her generation attain adulthood in the 1950s, is apparently unpublished. It is included in the list of "Uncollected Juvenilia" (poems before 1950) at the end of Plath's Collected Poems (edited by Ted Hughes, 1981).
