  • Three South Italian Red-figured Pottery Vases
  • Heights 14 1/4 , 8 1/4 , and 7 1/4 in. 36.2, 21, and 18.4 cm.
comprising a Campanian bail amphora painted in front with a warrior wearing greaves, belt, and helmet with twin plumes, and holding a spear and shield, and on the back with a draped youth, a pelike painted on one side with a nude youth and on the other with a woman holding a mirror before her, and an Apulian squat lekythos decorated with a seated woman facing left and holding a phiale and tambourine.

Condition

the pelike:very good, intact, some thin encrustation, surface may have been varnished at some point,could benefit from cleaning; the bail amphora: very good, intact, some of the added paint missing, scratches on the white shield, added paint on part of the helmet flaked off; the lekythos:repaired and with significant areas of restoration and retouching.
