- A Marble Strigillated Sarcophagus Fragment with Erote
- 19 1/2 by 14 1/2 in. 49.5 by 36.8 cm.
carved with strigillations and a striding erote (perhaps personifying a Season) holding a cornucopia and wearing a chlamys fastened with a circular brooch on the right shoulder.
Provenance
acquired in Japan in the 1970s or early 1980s
Condition
Good and as shown, note remains of red pigment in hair, minor nicks on right thigh and fingers and on left knee.
