  • A Hellenistic Marble Head of the Knidian Aphrodite
  • Height 3 1/2 in. 8.9 cm.
after a sculpture by Praxiteles of the mid 4th Century B.C., turned to her left, her finely carved wavy hair brushed back behind the ears, bound in a fillet, and tied in a fragmentary chignon in back, the missing top of the head carved separately, remains of red pigment on the eyes, eyebrows, and hair.
