Description

  • An Attic Black-figured Footed Mastos Cup, Pistias Class
  • Height 4 1/8 in. 10.4 cm.
decorated on one side with a lion skin-clad figure of Herakles striding to right, holding a bow in his right hand, and with a quiver slung to his back, and on the other side with a figure of an Amazon striding to left, armed with a shield and sword, and wearing a high-crested helmet, her shield emblazoned with a fallen bearded warrior(?), palmettes flanking the handles; the details in added red and white.

Broken and repaired from fragments with small chips and minor losses along breaklines, some of them filled in, minor chips on rim.
