Catalogue Note
Boys returned to the subject of Abbeville on several occasions throughout his career. The town and church were the focus of a lithograph that was published in volume I of his Voyages Pittoresques et Romantiques dans l'ancienne France (see James Roundell, Thomas Shotter Boys, 1974, pl. 41, p.14). A watercolour of the same subject was also sold at Christie's, London, on the 16th November 1982, lot 151A.
