Catalogue Note

Charles G. Danford (fl. 1870s-1890s) was born in Scotland. He was an accomplished artist, sportsman and ornithologist. Elected as a Fellow of the Zoological Society of London in 1874, during his lifetime he travelled extensively in the Near East and Europe. A second album of watercolours and prints by Danford, mainly depicting views of Turkey, Greece and the Balkans, was sold in these Rooms on the 13th November 2008, lot 77 for £38,000.
