Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer, with the square elements tending more to slate grey in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is some very light wear to the top right and left, as well as lower left corners and to the right side of the top extreme edge, with a few fine hairline tension cracks in places along all four extreme edges. There are fine networks of craquelure to the darker pigments throughout the composition, inherent to the artist's choice of medium. There is a faint stretcher mark running parallel to the centre of the lower edge (visible in the catalogue illustration). No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
