Catalogue Note

Danny Lee has been making sculpture for over two decades and can comfortably alternate between varying media, be it wood, stone or metal.  Steel, however, has taken center stage in recent years.  Through presenting minimalist forms with graceful contours and flawlessly polished surfaces, the sculptor skillfully coagulates a split-second out of a hectic urban sociology.  Mountain and Stream IV ( Lot 607) consists of a table of an Oriental style and solid metal rendered into a semblance of liquid, almost as if it were mercury spilling.  Danny Lee successfully arrests the free-flowing motion of fluid in an undeniably hard material.
