Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly warmer in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is a fine intermittent rub mark in the upper left quadrant to the left of the heart, and a further short fine rub mark to the left of the guns, towards the bottom of the hill. There are a few scattered light media accretions, most notably in the bottom left hand quadrant, and to the lower side edge. There is a very faint stretcher mark running along the top and left extreme edges, as well as a few isolated handling marks to the top, left and to the centre of the right extreme edges . Upon close examination, there is an extremely fine unobtrusive hairline crack to the left corner of the lower extreme edge. There is a minute unobtrusive dent to the right overturn edge, 10cm. above the bottom corner. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
