Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is softer and cooler, with the cream background tending more towards a pale grey.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There is an intermittent light stretcher mark running down the right edge. There are three pinhead-sized perforations at intervals along the right extreme edge. Upon close inspection a horizontal band of light craquelure is visible towards the bottom of the composition. Some light surface dirt and isolated light media accretions are visible in a few places throughout the canvas. Examination under ultra-violet light reveals a thin line of retouching (approximately 20cm. long) running down the top part of the right extreme edge.
