Condition
This work is in very good condition. The sheet has faintly yellowed with age and there is a slight undulation to the sheet primarily visible along the left and right edges. There is a 1/16 inch border around the edges of the sheet which is brighter in color than the majority of the sheet and is presumably the result of the edges having been covered by a previous matte. There are scattered yellow accretions which are largely visible in the catalogue illustration. There are a few additional smudges and pencil marks which appear inherent to the artist's working method, There is a residual brown adhesive along the extreme top edge presumably from the original sketchbook. Hinged verso the matte at the 4 corners and framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note
"Celia has a beautiful face, a very rare face with lots of things in it which appeal to me. It shows aspects of her, like her intuitive knowledge and her kindness, which I think is the greatest virtue. To me she's such a special person." - David Hockney
