Catalogue Note

The earliest known watercolours by Paul Camille Guigou date from the years 1862-63. Our work therefore forms part of this group of rather rare early watercolours by the artist; it is the smallest such work recorded today. The view depicted is probably in the neighbourhood of Marseille.

We are grateful to Madame Claude-Jeanne Bonnici for having kindly confirmed the attribution, and for her assistance in preparing this catalogue entry.
