Don symbolique reçu par la jeune épouse pendant les rites du mariage, ce peigne est richement orné de motifs traditionnels et symboliques, illustrant des adages qui lui étaient personnellement adressés. En particulier, il est surmonté de deux figures féminines en ronde bosse, assises sur des sièges traditionnels Akan, et dont la forme évoque celle des poupées de fertilité akuaba. Très beau dynamisme des formes, mis en valeur par la patine sombre.

Condition

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Areas of erosion to the paint, visible in the catalogue illustration.
