Description
- Approximately: Framed: 91.5cm. high, 73cm. wide; 3ft., 2ft. 4in.; Textile Visible: 75cm., 56.5cm.; 2ft. 5in., 1ft. 10in.
worked in polychrome wool and silk, in gros and petit point tent stitch, depicting central petit point scene of classical male and female figures in a ship, possible from Story of Antony and Cleopatra, with a gros point strapwork surround, on brown ground, all within a moulded ebonised frame with gilded slip
Condition
Frame not glazed. Originally a shaped panel, across top and bottom. Some loss and repairs in areas. Later salmon coloured threads to areas of the strapwork. Otherwise good overall condition. Previously shaped.
