worked in combinations of polychrome silk and wool threads, in tent stitch, petit and gros point, on various coloured grounds, depicting predominantly floral designs, some individual seat covers, some matched, for example matching sofa seat, and two seat covers, floral cartouches, English 18th century, (Qty 24)

Lot comprises of: Qty 24 some individual seat covers; * Large seat cover, 18th century, serpentine shaped edge, worked with flowers on central cream ground, with surrounding floral border band, four cuts for round furniture (67cm. x 71cm.); * Another large needlework cover, 18th century, with red ribbon bow tied flowers on cream ground, four cuts for round furniture (67cm. x 78cm.); * A small circular floral needlework panel, on cream ground, with braid edging, 18th century (49.5cm. x 50cm.); * A small rectangular strapwork needlework panel, late 19th/ early 20th century (39.5 x 55.5cm.) very faded; * A large oval shaped needlework picture panel, 18th century, with bird and flowers on brown ground, cut edges, panel applied to felt backing, some loss of threads and old repairs (approx. 79cm. x 67cm.); * A single rectangular panel, late 19th century, with flowering plant and swag on cream ground, with gold egg-and-dart border with flowers (114cm. x 51cm.); linen backing some matched; * (detail of one illustrated) Four finely worked needlework seat covers, 18th century, worked with blue ribbon tied bunch of flowers on beige ground (seat: 56cm. x 89cm.; back: 48cm. x 45cm. -Mayorcas 4717 on back; seat (illustrated detail 56.5cm. x 68cm., back: 48cm. x 44cm.), and four fragments which could be used as arm covers: (between approx. 19cm. x 13cm. and 17cm. x 14cm.); *matching needlework sofa seat, and four shaped covers, and one cut irregular panel, all worked with floral cartouches and foliate wreath surrounds, on tobacco coloured ground, English late 18th century and later, (shaped sofa single cover: 65cm. deep x 186cm. wide; four panels: (backs with arched top 65 x 60; 62.5 x 57; 63.5 x 59; and seat cover shaped 64 x 74 - with corners sections cut out;); additional irregular panel: 79cm. x 46cm. * A matching woven tapestry seat and back cover, with two arm covers, 19th century, with floral design on cream with terracotta borders (seat: approx. 64cm x 78cm; back 68cm. x 59cm; arm covers 29 x 17.5cm) * A matching seat and small back cover, with two small arm covers, 18th century and later, with blue floral design on cream ground (seat: 60cm x 72cm; back: 46cm. x 41cm; each arm cover 18 x 11.5cm.) * A matching seat and back cover, 20th century, with floral design on cerise ground (seat: 62.5cm. x 81cm. with two cuts for furniture; back: 56cm x 72cm. with two cuts for furniture supports); with glue residue around edges and to back * A matching seat and back cover, 18th century, with floral design on pale duck egg blue ground (seat panel with dog 47cm. x 66.5cm.; back with bird 53cm. x 47cm.; and two small irregular fragments 20cm. x 25cm.), canvas visible around edge of both panels
