Description

with pierced fret-carved sides and two drawers
Condition
Good general condition and colouring. The top shelf has a small patch along the back edge.The joints are loose. There are minor old marks and scratches. There are some minor cuts along the back edges to inset fixing brackets. There are some mnor age cracks to the bottom shelf.

These shelves are based on a design by Thomas Chippendale, seen in his The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker`s Director, 1754 Edition, pl.112. Chippendale`s design shows the same attractive scrollwork at the top and the same pierced Chinese style paling to the sides.
