Description
- 66cm. high, 48cm. wide overall; 2ft. 2in., 1ft. 6¾ in.; the top 26cm. square; 10¼ in.
the square top with wavy gallery and a pull-out slide on a pierced-fret support and base with hipped downswept legs

The Gore-Booth Family, Lissadell House, Co. Sligo, Ireland.
Condition
Good overall condition. Very feint age cracks to the fretwork to the tripod base. Excellent colour and patina. The top has some old marks and scratches consistent with age.

Catalogue Note
The present urn stand with its Celtic style fretwork, appears loosely based on a series of drawings for 'Tea Kettle Stands' in The Universal System of Household Furniture by Mayhew & Ince of 1762, illustrated in Elizabeth White, Pictorial Dictionary of British 18th Century Furniture Design, p.315. The table typifies the idiosyncratic characteristics often found in Irish furniture of this period and, given the Irish provenance, would also tend to support it being of Irish manufacture.
