Condition

Possibly of earlier date; circa 1875-1880. Pile is generally good, closely sheared, approximately 1/10 of an inch throughout. Some surface abrasions along edges, most visible in outer guard borders. In right side guard border, there is a 1/3 of an inch slit. Some scattered minor visible warp ties. Sides with losses to selvages. Edges sewn on reverse with strips of lead encased in fabric to weight down carpet. Ends slightly fraying in areas, recommend securing, with cloth band sewn on reverse. Very dense weave, flexible handle, good overall condition, will enhance with minor restorations to sides and ends.
