Description

having the sunburst medallion design more often found in Kazak rugs and Soumac carpets
Condition
Pile generally good 1/8 inch with foldwear lines and browns oxidized to knotheads. Several repaired vertical slits in upper quarter of field and a 1 inch slit; an approximate 10 inch repaired slit in upper left corner. An approximately 1/2 x 2-1/2 inch reweave in upper left corner guard stripe, a few smaller reweaves at other end of rug.
Small scattered spot stains, should enhance with cleaning.
Sides overcast with red wool.
Original 1/2 inch light blue kilim ends and macramé fringes, with remnants of red and blue stitching embellishment at lower end; small 1/2 inch diameter hole lower left corner.
Supple handle, good condition, unusual design generally found in Kazak rugs from the South Caucasus.
