- A Heriz silk rug

Condition
Pile is generally good, closely sheared, approximately 1/10 of an inch throughout. Silk powdering, showing some early signs of stiffness in a few isolated areas. Small area in right border and right side of field with some water damage, distinguishable by difference in color and fragile foundation and some small horizontal cracks and slits. Scattered spot stains. Some minor losses to selvages. Upper ends with remnants of original flatwoven finish. Lower end secured with blanket stitch. Strips and loops of velcro sewn on reverse at top, bottom, and loops at sides. Very flexible handle, interesting European-influenced design.

Catalogue Note
An unusual design feature of this rug are the ribbon-like swags that drape between the floral shrubs and bouquets, all of which seem to float on the surface of the copper field.
