Catalogue Note
The highly stylized overscale leaves in this rug depart from Persian tradition and bring to mind Western designs such as those of the Arts and Crafts or Art Nouveau periods. This bold flowering tree is supported by a number of birds and butterflies all rendered in a variety of rich, highly saturated colors that make this rug an exceptional example of Persian workshop weaving.
