A gilt-mounted turtleshell quarter repeating table clock, Isaac Roberdo, London, circa 1715

7¼-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, matted centre with ringed winding holes and engraved false pendulum and date apertures, signed on an applied plaque in the arch Isaac Roberdo, the fusee movement with five knopped and ringed pillars, later  conversion to Brocot escapement, striking on a bell and with pull quarter repeat on a nest of five bells, the very unusual false backplate engraved with foliate scrolls and signed as the dial, the case with bell stop and gilt carrying handle above canted gilt scroll corners and tapered feet

Dial in generally good condition, later engraved S F either side of later regulation arbour, strike/silent lever lacking, minute hand repaired, one twist lock lacking from rear. Movement is much in need of a clean, with later chains to the fusees, going train re-trained and with conversion to Brocot escapement, striking and repeating trains appear to be original, large later cut outs to backplate and false backplate for later escapement, case with high quality gilt mounts, all very dirty, damage and old repairs to corners, some losses and old repairs to veneers, glass to rear door cracked, rear of case faded and dry. With a case key and pendulum.
