Description
- Clock 99cm. 39in. high Candelabra 30in. 76cm. high
4¼-inch silvered dial with oak leaf cast bezel, bell striking movement with outside count wheel and silk suspension, indistinctly signed on the backplate Mai A Paris, the plinth case surmounted by a bronze group of an eastern soldier nonchalantly restraining his rearing stallion; together with a pair of matched seven-light candelabras

Catalogue of All the Furniture and Effects in Carlton Hall, Selby, 1854, p.49, listed in the 'Library South Front'. And described as follows:
'2 Beautiful bronzed Candelabra for 7 lights on a triangular shaped siana [sic] marble plinth & plain shafts to do of siana marble,
A Beautiful Time Piece on block of Siana marble 20½in by 14 & mounted on bronze feet and mountings, the works good, pendulum & key to do & a beautiful bronze figure of a marli horse & man with dagger, horse 23in. height, the clock 8 day on a 1inch wood plinth with thrimb [sic] mouldigs bronzed & Japann'd'
Condition
Dial is dirty, glass lacking from front bezel. Movement is complete but extremely dirty and is not running, suspension broken, needs clean and service, rear movement restraint lacking. Case is dirty, some edge chips and losses to marble, mounts generally good but very dirty. One sconce lacking from candelabras. No pendulum or winder.
