Description

  • crowned interlaced C mark in underglaze-blue, incised No.3
  • 19cm., 7½in.
modelled as a young woman seated, tugging the hair of a young man at  her side, on a rectangular base draped with a green carpet ( some losses)

Provenance

Probably Sir Charles Henry Tempest, 1st Bt. (1834 - 1894), thence by descent to Ethel Mary Tempest (1869 - 1937) who married Miles Stapleton, 10th Lord Beaumont (1850 - 1895) thence by descent.

Condition

Her right hand lacking. Losses to three fingers on his left hand. Restoration to his right foot. Some patches of wear to green enamels. Minor chip to edge of carpet.
