  • wheel mark in underglaze blue, incised R.I., N36, MG

  • 29cm; 11½in
modelled by JP Melchior, as a man seated on a rock and playing the hurdy-gurdy to a woman standing at his side, the reverse modelled with a young boy sleeping against a box (some restoration and chips)

Provenance

Probably Sir Charles Henry Tempest, 1st Bt. (1834 - 1894), thence by descent to Ethel Mary Tempest (1869 - 1937) who married Miles Stapleton, 10th Lord Beaumont (1850 - 1895) thence by descent.

Condition

male- restoration to right arm and hand. female- small chips to yellow bows on sleeve. boy- chip to hat and to tip of one shoe.Small chips to box he's leaning on. Shallow chips to base
