First edition, published in weekly parts, 10 volumes, 8vo (206 x 120mm.), 57 engraved plates and maps (6 folding, one map outlined in colour), duplicate leaves of I1 at end of Holt Hundred and A1-2 at start of Humbleyard Hundred bound in, contemporary tree calf, yellow edges, quires G-H in vol.2 spotted, a few plates cut close (one shaved at foot), extremities slightly rubbed

Catalogue Note

The estate of Bixley Hall, just outside Norwich, was the seat of the Ward family; the 3rd Earl was married to Susan Ward, and on her (childless) death in 1771 the Ward estates passed to her husband, who subsequently remarried.
