Catalogue Note

This vase is notable for its impressive size; compare a slightly smaller vase of this form and a denser flowerscroll design, but with a small band of foliage above a ruyi border at the rim, sold in our New York rooms, 28-29th September 1989, lot 173; and another decorated with a broad flowerscroll frieze to the body and neck, between various bands of decoration, sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 29th November 1977, lot 222, and again in our London rooms, 17th December 1996, lot 107.
