  • approximately 203 by 129cm., 6ft. 8in. by 4ft. 3in.
Inscribed in Persian in nasta'liq script, Isma'il, reading as:
farmayesh-e isma'il va aba "[On] the order of Ismai'il and [his] father" or as farmayesh-e isma'il vaba  "[On] the order of Isma'il Vaba"

Condition

Pile overall in good condition, approximately 1-2mm in length overall with some oxidisation to knotheads in mauve and taupe in palmettes across the centre. Backed with two strips of modern tape at each end. Overlocked fringe at both ends. Fringe at upper end missing in sections, mainly on the right side . In restored and cleaned condition. Original side cords in magenta silk. Damage and repair in the lower edge to centre into outer guard stripe and visible hand repair (triangle shape: 8cm. long x 5cm. wide; and another repaired split - angled 6cm. long). Some minor spot stains, barely noticeable in lower border. . Unusual assymetric design and very pretty pale colouring, recently cleaned.
