Catalogue Note

Similar examples can be found in the State Hemitage Museum, St Petersburg (see The Treasures of the Golden Horde 2000, p.119, cat. 156-164). Although the pieces in the museum are inlaid with pearls it seems that they may once have been inlaid with jade as well, since the pearls seem foreign to the existing fixturings.
