good, dense pile throughout, approximately 5mm in depth; later tied on fringes; original selvedges, with vinyl strips sewn to reverse of sides to prevent curling; small amounts of fuchsine dye used in some design elements, mauve visible on reverse, faded to beige on face; water staining visible on reverse in lower left hand corner and on dark side on face; overall in exceptional condition for age
