Description
composed of two rectangular sections hinged together, the ivory carcass revetted throughout with ebony, the interior with a recessed backgammon board with alternating ivory and ebony arcades separated by sandalwood plaques, the centre in sandalwood framed by dotted ivory strips with a simple central design of ivory disk, the exterior with a chessboard with squares alternately decorated with plain ivory and ebony, bordered at the ends by ivory panels, the ivory outer edges slightly raised and painted with a keyfret motif, 15 carved ivory and 15 painted red ivory backgammon pieces, 16 carved ivory and 16 painted red ivory chess pieces
Condition
In overall good condition, some small cracks to the side panels and chess squares, surface slightly warped, all pieces present with one replacement pawn, 4 other pieces with very minor damage with associated repair, all backgammon pieces present, as viewed.
