The canvas is lined. SURFACE: Pressed craquelure throughout. Horizontal lines running through the image at top, middle, and bottom, possibly the signs of previously repaired cracks or tears. UNDER UV: Lines of inpainting to address the above mentioned horizontal cracks: just below the top bracket of the door which branches towards the right edge, a horizontal line running off and on through the neck of the fiddle, a horizontal line through the bottom of the body of the fiddle. Other dots of inpainting scattered throughout the left and right on the surface of the door.
