the noble warrior in final preparation of dressing in elaborate costume, the pillar behind suppporting the large feathered backrack centering a massive deity mask, holding a weapon in the left arm and feathered shield in the right, wearing ear plugs, a triple-strand bead necklace with pendant mask with three dangles below, thick shell belt and long loincloth, with stepped coiffure and the tapering head once supporting a removable headdress.

Overall very good, minor areas of repair and fill top tip of long weapon in left hand restored, , top of the pillar in back restored, and on the deity mask on the backrack - the nose and upper lip repaired. Lovely deep Maya blue color and overall modeling and detail excellent.

Finely detailed Jaina figures record the courtly status and ceremonial events of the Maya world. This spectacle of regal costume is notable for the support pillar and platform. The tapered head indicates a now absent headdress and the elaborate feathered backrack with a deity mask, are additional accoutrements of an important warrior's garb. See Schmidt (1998: cat no. 113) for a figure with similar backrack plumage.
